Info

  • Nearly everything has changed from V1 including the models mesh and UVs. Expect to re-texture your model with this update!

  • The models proportions have also changed, they’re taller and now in a T-pose, if you’ve added hair, props or clothing to the model, you WILL need to re-position or re-adjust your add-ons! Weight painting has also changed, so you may need to re-weight custom clothes.

  • Face tracking shape keys are included by default, you will need to use Jerry’s face tracking template for Unified Expressions

  • Please reach out to me if you run into any bugs/issues or have suggestions!

Updating Guide

BACK UP YOUR PROJECT!

ALWAYS make backups or use a form of version control like git with your projects, regardless of if you’re updating! Even just duplicating the folder to have a copy.

1. Importing V2

Unity Package

If you’re using the Unity Package version of the model, you will need to import the Shia BunniaV2.unitypackage There is no update package as the majority of the project has changed.

VCC Integration

If you’re using the VCC integration, Just update your packages from the creator companion. Once in unity, navigate to the Packages > Shiapra - Shia Bunnia and import Prefabs & Variants.unitypackage

Warning!

This will overwrite your custom materials as many settings have changed for V2. If you wish to keep a copy of your materials, you should rename them or move them to a different folder prior to importing them.

2. Update Issues

My avatar is shiny / solid white / looks weird

The previous texture maps on the V1 Bunnia were actually exported incorrectly from substance painter, The material settings were modified to make the previous textures work as I didn’t realize at the time.

The new texture maps now use the correct Poiyomi export settings, so if you’re seeing your Bunnia as shiny or metallic, Its due to the material settings still being configured for the old textures.

The previous materials in the Prefabs & Variants.unitypackage used old textures, these have been replaced with new ones and wont properly link back to the material.

VCC:

You’ll need to re-import the unity package under Packages > Shiapra - Shia Bunnia > Materials & Variants.unitypackage

Unity Package:

You’ll need to copy the Bunnia Material again and modify it with your new textures, or you can copy the new settings backwards to your existing material.

Clothing & Prefabs

All the clothes that come with the avatar have been updated for V2. Custom clothing will need to be re-positioned and possibly re-weighted.

If you have prefabs attached to the model such as custom hair or items, you will need to re-position these.

There is an included Custom Hair empty object in the hair prefab you can use which will have a menu option for flipping the hair in game. Just drag your hair on to the empty object, then zero out its position in the inspector. You should then be able to adjust it to fit the head nicely and it will automatically be parented to the head on upload.

3. Face Tracking

Face tracking shapekeys are included on the model by default! Although I have not built an animator for them yet.

The Bunnia uses Unified Expressions for face tracking, If you have a compatible headset and wish to use Face Tracking, read the documentation on the VRCFT Site

You will need to use the prefab VRCFury - Face Tracking - UE Blendshapes located under Packages > VRCFT - Jerry's Templates > Prefabs

4. Texturing

The UV’s have changed on V2 of the Bunnia meaning you’ll need to re-texture your avatar.

There are legacy UV’s included in case you cant at the moment but your avatar will likely not look good with them, especially the hands.

Substance Painter

The Substance Painter project has been updated with the new mesh, There’s only one included pattern in the project this time.

PSD File

There will be an included PSD file for those who do not have substance painter, when using this, make sure to add additional margin around the islands as you paint, if you don’t you will see seams in game as VRChat now uses Mip-Mapping
